Terricka Christian-Surratt
Terricka Christian was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago. She is happily married to Jarvis Surratt and is the mother of two beautiful daughters. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Professional Development, and brings almost a decade of dedicated service to her community.
Professionally, she works as a parent-educator and case-manager, assisting mothers in navigating difficult circumstances by connecting them with vital resources. Prior to this, she worked with individuals with disabilities as a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP).
Terricka believes that everyone deserves access to essential resources, regardless of their circumstance or situation. At her local church, Fellowship Revival Center, she finds joy in being involved with the Youth Ministry and Usher Board.
"Meeting people where they are with compassion, without judgement, and with a willingness to sacrifice time and energy to support their growth."
— Terricka Christian-Surratt
For Terricka, caring for others is like planting seeds — an act of faith that may not always yield immediate results, but always bears fruit in time. She points to three scriptural passages that encourage a life of service:
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ."
— Galatians 6:2
"Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others."
— Philippians 2:4
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
— Matthew 25:40
Terricka and her community came together to celebrate the start of a new school year — bringing joy, resources, and love to the children and families of the West Side of Chicago. This is caring in action.
"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have."
Stories like Terricka's remind us that one person's commitment to love can ripple through an entire community. How will you plant your seeds today?
